Mentor: William A. "Doc" Muller

 

William "Doc" Muller is one of the most dedicated and successful surf fishermen on the East Coast. During over thirty years of surf fishing competitions, he has won more than 100 first place-fishing awards. Doc has been an outdoor writer since 1973 and has been an active member of the Outdoor Writers Association of America since 1973. On April 28 2018 I was inducted into the New York State Outdoorsman's Hall of Fame

Doc is also one of the most popular speakers on the fishing show and seminar circuit.

"Doc" has authored 9 books on fishing including Secrets of Surf Fishing at Night, Fishing with Bucktails, and his latest book Surfcaster. Bill has also published two very-well reviewed action-adventure novels, Plague of Terror and Vanishing Cures.

"Doc" has been part of The Long Island Fisherman family since 1973. He has written several thousand articles for the magazine and served as editor during the 1970s. He has also written for the Saltwater Sportsman, Motorboat, and On The Water.  

Doc holds a Ph.D. in biology with a specialty in marine sciences. He recently retired from The New York Institute of Technology where he was a college professor since 1972.
